Virginia-Highland residents are mulling the good and bad of seeking a historic district designation to fight the scourge of teardowns and keep the neighborhood's character intact. Specifically, the designation would apply to two subdivisions — Adair Park and F.A. Ames Property/Virginia Highlands — that include about 300 homes. The city enacted tougher zoning ordinances in 2008 to quell the McMansion craze, but that might not be enough for some grassroots crusaders. [Image, info via Atlanta Intown Paper]
