$1.7M for Sweeping Antebellum Glory In Buckhead

New, 3 comments

The South has risen, and on one of Atlanta's swankiest streets. This roughly 6,000 square-foot, Antebellum-style home boasts an address on — and a high-profile presence along — Buckhead(ish) Londonberry Road. Listed at a cool $1.785 million (Confederate tender not accepted), four Corinthian columns and what one realtor calls a "rocking chair front porch" welcome visitors named Rhett and otherwise. A sweeping staircase and two-story foyer feel about right, given the style. It's not quite as big as other estates in the area (see: former Hawk Joe Johnson's $4.7 million digs), but this one's more about the vibe.

Even the furniture in most of the listing photos is Gone With The Wind-y, but the house was built in 2002, not 1860. It's got five bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths, arched entryways and a few fireplaces — the bathroom and kitchen amenities are perfectly modern, though, and an open floor plan in the latter gives it a more up-to-date look. Scarlett and the gang probably would've dug the side-yard swimming pool, too.
