Just south of Little Five Points, Dunkin' Donuts wants to retrofit a Moreland Avenue building (across the street from The Wrecking Bar) that once was a gas station, but now hosts only occasional Christmas Tree pop-ups and car washes. Neighborhood leaders are fighting it, in fear the proposed drive-thru (i.e., the lifeblood of Dunkin' Donuts) would set a bad precedent, opening the door to — gasp! — Long John Silvers and such. For a national chain, the renderings look pretty snazzy, but opponents make strong points, too. [CL]
