This week's top dish from Eater Atlanta...
ESSENTIAL EATS— This week, both the Eater 38— that's the 38 most essential restaurants in the city— and the Eater Heatmap— where to eat right now— got updates. Check 'em out before you make plans this weekend.
HECTOR SANTIAGO IS BACK— Yup, you read that right. Hector Santiago, the former chef/owner of Pura Vida, Super Pan, and El Burro Pollo is now the executive chef of Abattoir, Anne Quatrano's meat-heavy restaurant in West Midtown.
NEW RESTAURANTS— Hugh Acheson's Athens restaurant, Five & Ten, reopened on Wednesday in its new home on Milledge Avenue. Take a look around the new space right here. Also, Chick-a-Biddy, the new restaurant from Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere, also of Bantam + Biddy, opened on Thursday in Atlantic Station. Here's what that looks like.
GO-TO GUIDE— Ever wonder where Linton Hopkins, chef/owner of Holeman & Finch and Restaurant Eugene, eats when he isn't at his restaurants (or eating H&F Burger double stacks at the Ted)? We've got you covered in the latest installment of the go-to guide.
DECATUR— Here are some details on forthcoming restaurant Kimball House, which will open this fall from the Brick Store Pub and Leon's Full Service team. In more Decatur news, Victory Sandwich Bar in Inman Park is now closed, so your only chance for $4 sandwiches and Jack and Coke slushies comes from the Decatur outpost (at least, until their new Inman digs open, also this fall).
