Visual Journey: Beltline's Eastside Trail, Two Years Ago

Remember when patronizing the Beltline's Eastside Trail meant possibly twisting an ankle on railroad ballast? We do. Thankfully the first segment of Atlanta's planned 22-mile emerald necklace is immeasurably smoother now — and responsible for a groundswell of nearby development. So it seemed like an opportune time to share these archival photos (taken while technically trespassing in 2011) for a two-mile visual journey from Irwin Street north to what's now known as Ponce City Market. Note: The first section of photos date from almost exactly two years ago; beyond the Freedom Parkway overpass, photos date to February 2011. Beltline proponents and detractors must agree the metamorphosis has been remarkable.
