"I recently moved to Atlanta after finishing undergrad at the College of Charleston. If you've ever been to Charleston, a car isn't needed at all if you live on the peninsula. I was used to that lifestyle until I moved here and had to drive just about everywhere. Once our lease ended, we moved to an (apartment within) walking distance to a MARTA station. Since then I hardly use my car. I only go to places during the week that are either walkable or on the rail line. I may use my car on the weekend for get-aways, but that's about it. It's saved me money on gas, I exercise more, and I'm generally happier about starting my day. I think this will be a permanent lifestyle change for me." — Commenter #22, "The Youngins Are Ditching Their Cars ... Or Are They?"
