In Morningside, This Art-Filled Retreat Asks $1.59M

If phrases like "entertainment pergola with bar" and "impressive stone work galore" and "one damn big house" tickle your fancy, have a gander at this Morningside residence, which the agent fittingly describes as an "urban retreat." Clocking in at 4,340 square-feet, the 2004 John Willis home has been customized to implement a flowing floor plan that beckons wine and cheese parties. For nearly $1.6 million, it's as turnkey as it should be, with five dandy bedrooms, top-flight finishes, landscape by Bennett Design and a saltwater pool. But, for our money, it leans a little too traditional, with an overabundance of trey and coffered ceilings. The suburban flair is made all the more blatant by the presence of so much contemporary art, which would be easier to subtract than the antique-y white cabinetry. But these are very minor quibbles.
