Behold: Fresh glimpses at progress on the 1.5-million square-foot "Buckhead Atlanta" project. Developer OliverMcMillan, who graciously toured us around the property, expects the first retail stores at Buckhead Atlanta to open next spring. The bulk of the development should deliver by the end of 2014, with a few outparcels coming online the following year. All told, the project is slated to include 100,000 square feet of office space and 300,000 square feet of retail — along with two 12-story towers, which will house 340 apartments. Earlier this summer, OliverMcMillan's CEO Morgan Dene Oliver said retailers more commonly found on Rodeo Drive, Michigan Avenue and Madison Avenue had leased 60 percent of Buckhead Atlanta retail space. Only Hermès, the headquarter offices of Spanx and Shake Shack have been confirmed. This all beats a hole in the ground.
