Here's visual evidence that Beltline progress is happening. When the new Edgewood Avenue bridge (above) is complete, construction will commence to extend the current trail from Irwin Street to DeKalb Avenue. (The bridge is scheduled for an early 2014 opening, replete with a ramp and stairs connecting Edgewood to the Eastside Trail). Beltine officials have said this extension is fully funded; a Woodruff Foundation grant is helping the trail eventually reach Memorial Drive, near the Glenwood Park community. Beyond that, funding is pending. This is what these segments look like now. Enjoy the ride.
