Record Attendance

New, 3 comments

Atlanta Streets Alive officials counted a record crowd of roughly 50,000 at Sunday's event, which borrowed a huge swath of Peachtree Street from 17th Street in Midtown to south of Five Points for four hours. Attractions included three beer gardens, a bike parade and a Park Pride pop-up park. The event overlapped with NFL kickoff bacchanalia, but the weather was pretty much perfect. So how'd they calculate attendance? One official tells Curbed Atlanta: "The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition utilizes a team of counters who take surveys of different areas along the route." Streets Alive returns Sunday, Oct. 6 with an extended route along Boulevard, Highland Avenue, Virginia Avenue and Monroe Drive (See: the map). [ASA]
