Over the long weekend, Rep. John Lewis' office announced the federal government has bestowed an $18 million grant upon the Atlanta Beltline project. Officials said the money will cover construction for two more miles of the Beltline, but exactly where the stretch(es) will be built wasn't specified (rumor has it a portion the southwest corridor is next to be fleshed out). This sounds like a sizable chunk of change for two miles; the longer, finished portion of the Eastside Trail cost about $5 million.
