A woodsy plot in Sandy Springs will be swapped out for a boutique office project. The John Hardy Group — known for building upper-crust lodging around the world, including Hotel Novotel in Times Square and The New York Palace — will build a ground-up project called "700 Abernathy" off Ga. Highway 400 near the Perimeter, Bisnow reports. In the heart of the Recession, Hardy scooped up the property and initially envisioned a hotel for the site. The existing mansion, meanwhile, has been under consideration for office use. Atlanta could probably benefit, at least from an aesthetic standpoint, from more office space in this vein. UPDATE: A representative with Hardy provides the following clarification for 700 Abernathy, which sounds like a 100-percent go:
"A new ground-up office building will be developed for 700 Abernathy Road, conveniently located off of Ga. Highway 400 in the central perimeter submarket in the City of Sandy Springs. The previously undeveloped site will offer Atlanta a boutique-style office facility surrounded by the beauty of nature."
