Mayor Reed is playing coy (what's new?) about specific details but has hinted that a deal with a potential Underground Atlanta buyer is nearing completion, saying that he expects an announcement to be made before December 1. The unnamed buyer would invest, according to Reed, between $100 million and $250 million on an above-ground, high-density development while the underground portion remained largely in tact. The development will be "high end" and not targeted toward Georgia State students. The mayor also said that the "vision is to turn Underground into a residential living room," which would seem to imply there'll be some couches and maybe dudes in sweatpants watching TV, so we've got that to look forward to.
