Development Arbiters

In an effort to ward off uninspired development, the Beltline and the city are forging ahead with plans to create an expert panel called "The Atlanta Beltline Design Review Committee" to help guide future projects near the entire 22-mile trail. If approved, the panel would be another hurdle for developers trying to build huge parking lots or gas stations, for example, in the Beltline's overlay district; it'd also act as an advisory resource for well-meaning builders who need clarity on the Beltline's vision. The seven-member panel will include Beltline staff, urban planning experts, an architect, a local design professor and Jeff Fuqua (just kidding). [Creative Loafing]
