With the advent of the Beltline's Westside Trail, and all the media coverage (and investment) a project of that scope has solicited, neighborhoods such as Capitol View, Adair Park, Westview and West End are less obscure to many intowners than they used to be. But that doesn't mean the majority of, say, Ansley Park residents know what these historic communities on the flipside of town look like. So, on a sunny autumn day, we toured the neighborhoods most likely to be impacted by a three-mile stretch of multiuse Beltline trail to capture the "before" vantages. If officials' estimates are correct, the "after" images will come in two years, when the Westside Trail is scheduled to debut — if not sooner, in anticipation of it. These neighborhoods were ravaged by the Recession and all the unscrupulousness it entailed. They haven't seen a $43 million investment like the Westside Trail since MARTA was built four decades ago.
