Midtown Condo Aims High with a Crazy Staircase, Price

New, 11 comments

Unit 503 at 77 Peachtree Place is among a dying breed of condos in Midtown. Quickly being overshadowed by post-recession glass towers, Cotting Court, named for a demolished post-bellum estate which formerly occupied the site, is located across from the Midtown MARTA station at Peachtree Place and Cypress Street. The 60-unit building doesn't match the sleekness of its new high-rise neighbors, but it benefits greatly from the influx of residents and accompanying business in the area with an enviable Walk Score of 94. The unit itself is a crazy fusion of traditional and modern, with copious amounts of molding paired with an open riser stair that allows light to spill through the space from the full wall of windows. At the moment, the views of the rest of the neighborhood are a big selling point, though with the anticipated development of the parking lots surrounding, the views might be short-lived. The price tag of $535,000 for two bedrooms and three bathrooms seems a bit excessive, though with 1,784 square feet and a building that could be characterized as "boutique," it might not be too far-fetched in the competitive Midtown market.
