Small and upscale townhome communities are sprouting from Midtown, to Old Fourth Ward, to the Briarcliff area and all across Buckhead and Brookhaven. And with rumors of pre-construction sellouts swirling, why wouldn't they be? Now, a new cluster of semi-attached housing at the cusp of Piedmont Park continues that trend. Across from the Atlanta Botanical Garden, a seven-unit development inventively called "Ansley at Piedmont" is under construction. Planned to deliver next spring, the Monte Hewett Homes project is billed as "luxury" and "beautiful," but online information is otherwise scant.
The townhomes appear to be relatively deep and — one would guess — leaning away from "cheap" on the affordability spectrum, given the park-side location and the inherent Ansley prestige. Three-story units in the middle are bookended by two-story offerings with French-countryside flair. Monte Hewett, the builder, is behind at least one mondo Craftsman house in Oakhurst, another townhome community "right in the thick of downtown Decatur" and residential components at Avalon in Alpharetta, according to the company's website.
