Dubious Rankings

Just when you thought you'd never get to prance down Ponce in a tiara and sash doing your best pageant wave, Atlanta has been named the eighth most attractive city in the nation by Travel + Leisure. Our place was determined based partly on our penchant for luxury shopping (number five in the nation) and partly on our "enticing cocktail bars"... because ugly people don't drink cocktails? The top 10, in order: Miami, San Diego, Charleston, L.A., Providence, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Nashville, Atlanta, Honolulu and Tampa. Poor Detroit, Memphis, Oklahoma City, Baltimore and Philly didn't fare as well — landing the top spots on the least attractive list. Maybe they just need more cocktail bars. [Travel + Leisure]
