Removal of several large trees along Oakview Road, East Lake Drive and West Hill Street has commenced as Oakhurst undertakes a long-delayed streetscaping initiative, according to Decaturish. The $2 million project is aimed at making the streets and adjacent Harmony Park friendlier for local residents, though the same might not be said for those residents of the tall, woody variety. Intended to transform the heart of the neighborhood into a pedestrian-friendly precinct, the project will plant new trees (including several large shade trees, where they won't be clotheslined by utilities) sometime in the next year, the Decatur Minute reports.
