Inside The Under-Construction Brewery At Piedmont Park

New, 8 comments

Sure, more than a dozen brewpubs and breweries are in the offing for metro Atlanta and Athens, but exactly one of them is nestled up against our city's most glorious greenspace. Late this spring, Orpheus Brewing expects to open an artisanal brewery overlooking the latest Piedmont Park expansion and a future leg of the Atlanta Beltline. Cheers to that. The build-out is under way at a large industrial space on Dutch Valley Place, near the intersection of Monroe Drive and Piedmont Avenue. Expect a tasting room and a deck overlooking the park. The actual brewhouse should be installed early next month. Orpheus says its lineup of saisons, sours, hops and barrels will offer beers unique to the Southeast. Year-round offerings will include the Orpheus flagship, Lyric Ale, and Atalanta — a tart plum saison named for the mythical Greek heroine — which was also in consideration for the name of this city, way back when.
