Monster Prairie Overlooking Chastain Costs $1.5 Million

New, 8 comments

Fans of Prairie-style architecture and Buckhead exclusivity might double over and faint at the sight of this $1.5 million home overlooking Chastain Park. It's fully modern but with a dab of rustic sensibility, which seems appropriate given the woodsy lot. And it should appeal to Frank Lloyd Wright fanatics who enjoy the convenience — and warranty — of a brand new place. At nearly 5,000 square feet, she's a monster six-bedroom, with two fireplaces, a finished basement and a living-room ceiling fan like the ones that cool the Costa Rican airport. The jaw-dropping kitchen has a Viking stove that's four feet wide, for when you want to pretend you work at Waffle House. It's nice to see locally harvested Walnut used for the floor planks (at a trendy eight-inches wide, no less), and the exterior of hand-chiseled Tennessee stone and Cypress wood isn't hurting matters. It's prewired for a home automation system with outdoor speakers and yada yada, but at this price point, maybe those things could be included. And … no pool?
