ATL Affordability

New, 13 comments

The editorial board at Creative Loafing has penned a can't-miss column that sheds well-researched light on a topic we've been ranting about for months: the rapidly inflating cost of living in Atlanta. Inspired by Ponce City Market's recently unveiled rental rates ($1,225/month and up for a 575-square-foot studio, for instance), the staff asserts that "this environment could create a frightening affordability crisis where, years down the line, Atlanta is only a place for the well to do." Instead of: "a national leader when it comes to making sure the rich and poor, the CEO and the teacher, the lawyer and the artist, have a place in the city." [CL]
