Report: Wrecking Ball Looms For Buckhead Business Block

New, 11 comments

One of the last vestiges of Buckhead Village's freewheeling heyday could soon be bulldozer bait. Buckhead Bottle Bar & Bistro has been ordered to vacate its current home by the end of July, forcing the lounge and restaurant to find new digs like its former neighbor, Al's Café Agora, Tomorrow's News Today reports. The restaurant, the former Al's space and several other old buildings are reportedly being razed for a new development — one that's independent of the ongoing Buckhead Atlanta mega-project. Buckhead Atlanta will hug the block in question on two sides but won't consume it. It's bad news for anyone hoping the heart of Buckhead would retain a mix of older buildings to contrast its shiny new neighbor. TNT opines that the BBBB lounge should uproot from East Paces Ferry Road to the former Urban Flats space at Lindbergh City Center, joining fellow Buckhead Village expat Tongue & Groove and Wet Willies. Hey, at least Buckhead Village sentimentalists will still have the Elbow Room building and the modernist Buckhead Library, right?
