Could That Be Early Site Work At 811 Peachtree Tower Site?

New, 2 comments

Hopes are high that yellow tape and backhoes at the corner of Peachtree and 6th streets in Midtown mark the beginnings of the sexiest proposed residential tower in Atlanta. One tipster after another has pointed to some sort of site work on a lot between the Viewpoint condo tower and 805 Peachtree condominiums, currently home to surface parking. A majority of the lot has been cordoned off and asphalt removal or site work with heavy equipment has begun. The Integral Group — a development company pitching a 35-story tower designed by Perkins + Will — envisions an urban grocery store possibly anchoring the 25,000 square feet of retail, with some 400 apartments above. We have inquiries in with Integral and the commercial brokers at Cartel Properties, who are advertising the site as being available. Updates will be posted if further information materializes. The Midtown Alliance still lists the 811 Peachtree tower as "projected" with a start date "to be determined." Lest we forget the tower earned the most votes (among 700 voters) in a Curbed Atlanta poll earlier this year asking which project's design is the most appealing. That alone is proof the high-rise should happen, right? Last we heard, funding for the $70 million project was pending.
