Rare Dutch Colonial Surfaces In Atlanta, Seeking $1.69M

New, 5 comments

Tucked away near the Chattahoochee River in Buckhead, this deconstructed Dutch Colonial should suit the deep-pocketed Atlanta buyer seeking something truly different. Unlike almost every other home built in the early 1990s, this three-bedroom masterwork doesn't have that cheap, dated vibe. And with a $1.69 million price tag, it damn well better not. Beyond the tranquil 2.7-acre location, the key to the home's allure is probably the designer, Montgomery-based architect Bobby McAlpine, whose designs are nothing short of stunning. The listing agent says this is one the few McAlpine homes in Atlanta. The design stresses openness and squeaky clean lines. Surely there's been plenty of updating (see the gourmet kitchen and modernized bathrooms) but, as the agent rightly says, "the real star here is the architecture." Still, this place deserves to be bashed for its all-time-low Walkscore of 2, right? As if walkability was the objective here.
