The long battle over the 800 Glenwood Avenue site has reached a happy medium that seems to have made no one truly happy but developer Jeff Fuqua. After months of meetings, the project will move forward with a new "mixed-use high density" designation that allows for: a nine-story office building (fronting Interstate 20), a five-story residential complex with retail, an affordable senior housing center, a small food truck park, a "green wall" element and more retail along the Beltline — and yes, a 143,000 square-foot anchor that's rumored to be Walmart. With a nucleus of surface-lot parking, the early plans look similar to Fuqua's Edgewood shopping district. [Creative Loafing]
