One-Year Reno Ups Price Of Buckhead Home By 84 Percent

New, 6 comments

Some renovations are the equivalent of getting gussied up with a nice new haircut; others are akin to undergoing extensive plastic surgery that renders you unrecognizable. This ranch-style home behind the Lenox MARTA station has recently undergone the latter. Built in 1956, the three-bedroom house was bought last March for $370,000. The floorplan was altered to give the 1,774-square-foot space a modern, open layout, and the kitchen and bathrooms were completely redone with monochromatic but attractive finishes. After replacing the HVAC, plumbing, electrical system and roof, the owners have put it on the market for $679,000. The somewhat grumpy exterior looks like a low-hanging gray cloud, but don't let that fool you, the new layout allows for a light, airy living space with a sunny family room that has wall-to-wall windows and doors that open directly onto a fenced back yard.
