For $250K, This Wow-Worthy East Lake Bungalow Is Yours

For those who covet Scandinavian style in the heart of the American South, this East Lake bungalow — priced at $250,000 — is manna from heaven. Frankly, this is one of the most interesting properties to blip the Curbed Atlanta radar in a long time, being that it expands the realm of possibility for Atlanta's relatively small lots and modest homes. It sits off Interstate 20, down the road from East Atlanta Village, and from the street, you'd never guess there's a modern-style courtyard hugged within this compound. Or that a soaring cathedral ceiling tops the main living areas. Or that the raw cinderblock tower is actually a chimney for the steel fireplace. The nuclear membrane is a wall of windows wrapping the courtyard, through which natural light spills and spills. It may sound oxymoronic, but the contemporary spiral staircase (yes, it's true) leads to a loft overlooking the courtyard. Some might quibble with a dearth of kitchen cabinetry and overall size; it's a two-bedroom, two-bathroom home with 1,485 square feet. But if it's unique style you seek, it's tough to find fault here.
