A new chart from the PEW Research Center illustrates how citizens' political beliefs impact city planning, claiming that "liberals want more walkable communities, conservatives prefer more room." The chart indicates that 77 percent of liberals want houses that are smaller and closer together in order to walk to stores and restaurants while 75 percent of conservatives want larger homes that are further apart. ATL Urbanist explains why, despite the study's findings, Atlanta's slight conservative leaning does not, in fact, doom us to a life of sprawl. [ATL Urbanist]
