In Kirkwood, 1950 Bungalow Flip Goes Praire Route

New, 7 comments

Formerly a ratty 1950 brick bungalow, this Kirkwood home exemplifies an extreme makeover and blurs the line between soft Prairie and full. It's not quite finished yet, per the listing photos, but you get the picture: At 2,500 square feet and four bedrooms, the former bungalow's quaintness has been swapped for bigness and boldness, beginning with the fairly gigantic chef's kitchen and fireplace stonework. Each bathroom, the listing boasts, is "spa-like", and the ceiling of the "playspace" soars. At $469,000, it's not exactly cheap, but a house like this would cost oodles more in neighborhoods just around the corner. The listing touts the home's proximity to all things Oakhurst but fails to mention the schools aren't included. Despite the restaurants, bars, dog park and the MARTA train station a few blocks away, the Walkscore remains a modest 52, which is a bit of a head-scratcher.
