For those who consider knotty pine paneling, turquoise Formica countertops and built-in Frigidaire stoves a nostalgic utopia, the DeKalb History Center Museum is running a can't-miss exhibit through Labor Day called "The Mid-Century Ranch Home: Hip and Historic!" It's fitting that the exhibit — which features life-size mock-ups of period living rooms and plenty of kitsch — is happening in DeKalb, considered the epicenter of Georgia's ranch-house boom from post-World War II to 1970.
