A new article on the Erskine Memorial Fountain in Grant Park is unexpectedly fascinating (who woulda thought the history of a fountain would be so enthralling?). The neglected fountain was dedicated in honor of federal judge John Erskine in 1896 at a ceremony where Atlanta's then mayor promised that the municipal government would "sacredly guard and care for" the city's first fountain. That promise has been broken in a big way and History Atlanta wants to know why. [History Atlanta]
