Friendship Baptist Church, which sold its historic sanctuary for $19.5 million to pave the way for the Falcons' space-age origami, is now leading the charge to establish a new mixed-use district of at least 22 acres they're calling "Downtown West." The church is partnering with the St. Louis developer who redid Techwood Homes in the 1990s to plan this new western front, which would include retail, community amenities and affordable and market-rate housing. Oh, and a new FBC. [Atlanta Business Chronicle; subscriber]
