Breaking Update: 20 Hilliard

New, 12 comments

On Monday, Curbed Atlanta reported from 20 Hilliard Street where the 104-year-old building was being actively demolished while preservationists and concerned community members put forth what seemed like a long-shot effort to save the historic building. Tuesday, demolition crews failed to arrive as expected and Mayor Reed tweeted, "We are listening." Today, protestors were again surprised by the lack of workers on site. This afternoon, the Saporta Report says the Atlanta Housing Authority has confirmed that demolition has been halted while they determine whether the building can be saved and examine the environmental remediation requirements.
