North Buckhead's 26-acre Blue Heron Nature Preserve is adding four more acres and doing some pretty exciting things with the addition. The extension will allow the construction of a two-mile trail called the Blueway, which will run along streams near Land O' Lakes Drive and eventually connect to PATH 400, the Beltline and trails at Chastain Park. (See the third image in this Curbed Atlanta post for a map of how it works together.) The preserve has a 10,000-square-foot education and arts center, nature trails and a wildlife sanctuary that provides refuge to foxes, deer, coyotes, minks, otters, beavers, turtles, freshwater clams and many species of birds and fish.
