Here's What $250K Will Buy in Four Atlanta Neighborhoods

New, 4 comments

In today's Real Estate Deathmatch, we pit four ITP three-bedroom homes against one another. Each comes in under the $250,000 mark, and each is move-in ready. No fixer-uppers here. Check out your options in East Atlanta, Kirkwood, Ormewood Park and Grant Park, then vote for the house you'd choose.

East Atlanta
1719 Flat Shoals Road
Price: $250,000
Bedrooms/Baths: 3/2
Square Footage: 1,519
Purchased earlier this year for $105,000, this East Atlanta home has just been completely renovated with a modern kitchen, walk-in closets, professional landscaping and new exterior color (she used to be bright blue). It's got hardwood floors, a fireplace and 1,519 square feet of space.

Kirkwood
232 Mellrich Avenue
Price: $230,000
Bedrooms/Baths: 3/1
Square Footage: 1,078
Hope you're not offended by PDA because this updated Kirkwood brick house is Pretty Darned Adorable, even if its size and layout make it a little cozier than some might want. The backyard is scruffy and the kitchen is the size of some people's closets, but it is cheaper than our previous contender by $20,000.

Ormewood Park
921 Moreland Avenue
Price: $239,900
Bedrooms/Baths: 3/3
Square Footage: 2,467
The listing for the largest entry in our bout claims that "this home is hands down the best value in Ormewood Park," and with a spacious 2,467 square feet, that might be true. The 11-year-old house features a dual-sided fireplace, intercom system, trey ceilings and a large fenced backyard. The kitchen won't please gourmet chefs, but that's nitpicking at this price.

Grant Park
648 Bryan Street
Price: $250,000
Bedrooms/Baths: 3/2
Square Footage: 1,298
Another renovation, this circa-1920 bungalow features a brand-new kitchen, refinished hardwoods and the highest Walk Score (69) of any of today's participants.
