In a well-meaning story this week about self-defense strategies on public trails, 11Alive contorts the truth in saying the Beltline's special police unit, the PATH Force, was launched in "response to several attacks along the trail." The PATH Force was planned long before the Eastside Trail even opened, and the "attacks" description conjures worse incidents than what's actually happened: a handful of (very rare) stick-ups, the occasional fight and that mom-harassing jackass with a pit bull. Let's not give outsiders the wrong idea.
