And Now, the Drunkard's Guide to Riding MARTA Rails

New, 1 comment

Whether by plan or spur-of-the-moment adventure, almost every Atlantan has found themself barhopping on MARTA at one time or another. This new Google map, compiled by local planner and engineer Sinan Sinharoy, could make your next sudsy schlep easier — and it just might expand your MARTA-connected horizons. The map pinpoints bars within a half-mile radius of MARTA stations in Atlanta, and it stretches far beyond Midtown and Decatur, which are obviously loaded with options.

The MARTA-friendly drinking establishments pinpointed here run the gamut from the obvious (Marlow's Tavern beside the Midtown station) to the obscure (Bada Bings near King Memorial station), with a smattering of restaurant-bar hybrids (Anatolia Cafe and Hookah Lounge near the Five Points station). The guide isn't 100 percent inclusive (where's Elliot Street Pub in Castleberry Hill, for instance?) but it's plenty for an adventure that might enhance your knowledge of Atlanta and respect for its transit system. It's an online tool that could make for a Saturday you'll never forget, until it happens.
