After its offer to knock $100,000 off a long-overdue $600,000 water bill was refused by the city, the Metro Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless managed to pay its bill in full on Friday. The shelter on the corner of Peachtree and Pine streets (Atlanta's largest) had half of its water turned off in 2008 and was about to lose what was left when anonymous donors came up with $581,678.41. According to WABE, the Task Force still owes an unspecified amount to Georgia Power for electric bills and faces potential eviction in a court battle with its landlord. Maybe someone else should be handling the finances over there. [WABE]
