Sound the alarms, Chicago's O'Hare airport has officially stolen Hartsfield-Jackson's title as world's busiest airport. This, friends, is not okay. Book some tickets! While Atlanta still has more passengers flying in and out (94 million last year), Chicago wins when it comes to the number of departing and arriving flights (585,517 vs. Atlanta's 582,138) and their mayor is claiming the title. A Hartsfield-Jackson spokesperson told WABE that the war... oops, "year" isn't over yet and that winter weather could help Atlanta catch up with its colder competitor. That said, traffic is down about 5 percent thanks, in part, to the consolidation of routes after the Southwest and AirTran merger and Delta's move to larger aircraft. [WABE]
