Buying Mercedes

New, 4 comments

The Wall Street Journal has crunched the numbers, and apparently a slightly used German car company that's survived more than a few New Jersey winters is still worth about $23.3 million. Georgia lured Mercedes-Benz USA's headquarters away from the Garden State with $20,000 worth of tax credits for the company, per employee, up to $17.3 million, working out to 865 employees. Promising more than just a national victory, Daimler is consolidating operations for Canada and Mexico, meaning Atlanta will be the continental headquarters, which could make the move that much more legit, even with the tax relief.
