This Va-Hi House Costs $1M — and it Could be Worth It

New, 20 comments

For those pretentious homebuyers with $1 million budgets who covet curb appeal above all else … well, you'd better keep walking. But for those who can look past a rather ordinary façade from 1930, the interior at this six-bedroom sprawler in Virginia-Highland is full of delights — as it damn well should be, for this price. The dichotomy between the exterior and interior is shocking, with so much custom, wide-open, glowing-white roominess inside (nearly 4,000 square feet, in fact). The (too white?) kitchen will feature a six-burner pro range and Calcutta gold on the counters. Other hard surfaces appear to be fancy-pants marble. Around back is an Ewok-worthy deck, highlighted by a screened-in, outdoor fireplace. On the downside, the place needs some front-yard landscaping, pronto. And though it's a few blocks from Murphy's and Yeah! Burger, the Walk Score is an unimpressive 62, or "somewhat walkable." But $1 million isn't outlandish for the neighborhood, especially with this much space and this much punch, which you'd hardly see coming from the street.
