WABE sheds light on a controversial advertisement on the side of an Auburn Avenue building that may have been lost to history, if the infamous downtown tornado of 2008 didn't destroy an adjoining building next door. The mural, which dates back at least 80 years, depicts "The Gold Dust Twins" once synonymous with cleaning products — and far bleaker things. Nonetheless, some folks are advocating for preserving the mural, when the tornado-damaged building that houses it is imminently torn down.
