AMLI's CityPlace development, slated to bring a whopping 650 apartments to a site near Lenox Square, is chugging along. In the last 11 months, the area has been transformed from a heavily forested oasis — sandwiched between Buckhead high-rises and Lenox MARTA Station — to a large-scale construction site squirming with activity. Since we last happened by, work has gone vertical, with eight floors of the high-rise apartments up, part of a massive parking deck in place and the footings dug for the low-rise apartment buildings. While Sims Park is more or less open — though the official opening has yet to happen — there's still a lot of work to be done in the area. And if things go according to plan, the AMLI tower won't be the only new high-rise apartment building the neighborhood, with Crescent Lenox projected to rise just two blocks away.
