Another Office Tower Announced at Perimeter Center

New, 16 comments

Developer Seven Oaks is planning to add a new high-rise office tower to the Perimeter Summit development just ITP near Perimeter Mall. The AJC reports that the 15-story office tower will provide space for around 1,350 employees. With unanimous approval by the Decide DeKalb Development Authority, the project could break ground by the end of the year, with the 359,000-square-foot building to be completed sometime in 2017. And this is far from the only large-scale office development in the vicinity.

The project joins a growing list of major developments in the area surrounding Perimeter Mall. State Farm is building a new corporate campus, slated to house up to 10,000 workers, just west of the Seven Oaks Proposal. Earlier this year, details emerged for GID Development's High Street — a 42-acre development that would include millions of square feet of office space, residences and a hotel.

The projects are all within walking distance of Dunwoody MARTA stations, unsubtly hinting that mass transit may be playing a bigger role in driving development than some think. Of course, Atlanta is still a car-based city, so to remedy the traffic that will inevitably accompany the growth in the neighborhood, officials have proposed a magical new road to connect the area to Interstate 285.
