In the last couple of years, Atlanta has developed an insatiable lust for townhouses. Nowhere is that more apparent than a short stretch of Peachtree Road straddling the Buckhead-Brookhaven line, where four projects are in full swing right now. Last November, we reported on three townhome projects slated to continue the trend on Peachtree Road. And now with a new kid on the block, which rushed into the race recently with the demolition of three homes, the scene is only getting busier.
3700 Peachtree
This narrow neighborhood — complete with a dog park — is going up fast. Six of the 12 promised townhomes are nearing completion, with exterior work wrapping up. Listed for the low $900,000s — which sounds so much more attainable than plain-old $900,000s — the homes will each feature between two and three bedrooms and three-and-1/2 bathrooms. At the current pace, 3700 Peachtree will be the first completed project on the street.

The Aldredge Brookhaven
The ritziest of the projects is being constructed by prolific developer John Wieland Homes. While originally slated to start at $800,000, all signs indicate that homes won't go for less than $1 million now. Work on the first three units is wrapping up, while the slabs for nine more are formed for pouring. In total the development will feature 24 homes, some offering massive glass windows and rooftop balconies with spectacular views of the never-ending Peachtree Road traffic.

Buckhead Park on Peachtree
While work on the other two projects is moving along, things are progressing a little slower on the Buckhead Park on Peachtree. Slated for 20 townhomes, the site at 3663 Peachtree Road hasn't changed much in the last year, not since an old home was cleared from the site. No word on what the hold-up is; when we last checked in, the developer was pursuing variances.

Buckhead Park North
Just last week, the final home here was torn down in preparation for the latest project to come on the scene. Progress has been swift with land-clearing and grading in preparation for 17 townhomes on the site. If Buckhead Park on Peachtree doesn't get moving soon, it could be surpassed by this new kid on the block.
