New Project Continues 'SweetWater Design District' Evolution

New, 5 comments

The burgeoning "Bike and Brew" office district near SweetWater Brewery is getting a boost with the repurposing of an old warehouse into a dynamic workspace for CineMassive, producers of ginormous screens. According to a press release from local architects Kronberg Wallthe folks who recently renovated a Reynoldstown church for their offices — the new "loft office" will provide space for production and testing of the large screens used by everyone from broadcast companies to the Pentagon. The project will follow the local and national trend of hybrid work-play spaces overtaking ex-industrial buildings (a la Ponce City Market), with the possible inclusion of a cafeteria, library, flexible meeting spaces and a large lobby for hosting events.

Not long ago, the dead-end neighborhood at Armour Yard was home to little more than abandoned warehouses and the MARTA rail facility. With SweetWater brewery infusing a new sense of place to the area, the neighborhood — hemmed in by Peachtree Creek, railroad tracks and Interstate 85 — has been changing. Ottley Drive is quickly transforming with the completion of projects like Parkside@Armour and the recently announced projects Armour Yards and Armour Junction. Soon, all the area will need is an infill MARTA station to provide easy access, like the citizen-proposed new station at Hulsey Yard.
