W Downtown Condos Finally Enter 'Final Closeout' Phase

For the W Atlanta Residences, the quest to offload the original 76 developer condos has been a long, long slog, fraught with fire sales, foreclosure and promises of helicopter rides since the building opened about seven years ago. More recently, things have been looking up for the glassy 28-story tower, where the priciest one-bedroom condo in Atlanta history sold last month and two penthouses recently closed for well north of $1 million — as nothing but shells. All that remains, as the altantaSKYrise blog reports, are two primo, double-decker penthouses that now come furnished. This photo tour provides the most thorough glimpse yet into these sprawling units that command high prices (asks: $1.5 and $1.7 million, give or take, respectively) but offer pristine views around every corner, more space than many five-bedroom houses and free flights to the airport — or just for sightseeing — from the rooftop helipad. With that kind of budget and condo desires, is this where you would buy?
