Inside this $449K Midcentury Modern by Atlanta Master

New, 14 comments

This listing's opening sentence is hereby inducted into the Broker Babble Hall of Fame: "Live like James Bond or Frank Sinatra in 'Skyhaven,' a 1955 Midcentury Modern Masterpiece." Maybe that declaration is why this Rome property, priced at $449,500, went under contract almost immediately after listing last week. This is a 1955 project by Atlanta architect Joe Amisano (1917–2008), whose credits include Lenox Square and Peachtree Center MARTA station and who won a prestigious Prix de Rome award five years before this North Georgia compound was built. And "compound" is the only way to describe a swinging 4,500-square-foot giant with three master suites, six bathrooms, a three-car garage and a glass-walled wet bar so sweet it's got its own name: "Skybar." The triple lot looks like it's positioned on a hill (and thus the "Skyhaven" name?), and the updated kitchen is decked out with brands like Sub-Zero and Viking. The pad hasn't traded since just after the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, and its quick pending status could attest to the enduring appeal of midcentury flair.
