Finding a quality apartment in downtown Decatur that wasn't a little tired used to be a chore, but thanks to a wave of some 600 units in development, that scarcity is turning to an abundance — but not an overabundance, according to one official. Decatur Metro caught up with locally based Carter, developer of The Place on Ponce, the 230-plus-unit project that started the trend followed by two other major builds within spitting distance, Arlo and Alexan. The second, larger phase of The Place on Ponce opened a few weeks ago, and Carter reports that 62 percent of the whole project is leased, which makes the company "happy with the progress" because, in their eyes, "the market is receiving the product very well."
